Introducing my PM Advisory List: A Product Management Community for Career Mentorship and Business Advice
Connect with experienced advisors, get personalized career and professional guidance, and give back by sharing your own expertise.
Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how much of an impact thoughtful mentorship, coaching, sounding board advice can have on a person’s success. Whether it’s navigating a difficult project, unpacking a hard strategy problem, figuring out how to transition into a new role, or learning how to work effectively with a tough manager, the right guidance at the right time can make all the difference. But finding that guidance? That’s often easier said than done.
As an executive coach, I’ve worked with hundreds of PM’s but it’s not free and hard to scale and many other people would be happy to mentor if they knew the matches and conversations would be high quality.
That’s why I’m excited to introduce a new idea I’ve been thinking about: a tech industry PM-to-PM advice community, a community-driven platform for professionals to give and receive personalized career and professional business advice. It’s still early days, but I believe this concept has the potential to solve a big problem for many of us. And today, I’d love for you to be part of shaping it.
The Problem: A PM Advice Gap
Think about the last time you faced a tough career decision. Maybe you had a question like:
Should I take this new job offer, or stay in my current role?
How should I think about my roadmap?
How can I handle a direct report who’s struggling but has potential?
Am I using AI in the right way for my product?
What’s the best way to break into [insert industry]?
Is this business bet the right one for my business?
Should I and how do I advocate for my next promotion?
In moments like these, most of us turn to our personal networks. But here’s the catch: not everyone has access to a network that’s broad, deep, or experienced enough to provide the kind of advice they need. And even when you do, reaching out for help can feel daunting—or worse, unproductive if the advice doesn’t quite fit your situation.
What if there were a better way? A place where you could connect with people who’ve been there, done that, and are willing to share their insights? Also, what if you could offer help to others who are a few years behind you and encountering challenges you faced in previous roles?
The Solution: Curated, One-on-One PM Guidance
The idea is really simple. It’s a private, members-only and continuously curated list of PM advisors and advisees. The goal is to make PM advice accessible, personalized, and actionable by connecting professionals with experienced advisors for one-on-one video calls. Here’s how it works:
Quality Matching:
When you need advice, you’ll fill out a simple form describing your situation. I will match you with a community member who has the right expertise for your unique question. If this gets too much, I’ll eventually add automation. Eventually, I might make a member-only directory you can browse but for now, it’s just a private list I’ll manage.Focused, High-Impact Conversations:
You’ll meet with your advisor over a short video call to get their insights, ask follow-up questions, and discuss actionable next steps. Think of it as having a highly relevant coffee chat with someone who’s walked your path before.Reciprocity and Community:
This isn’t just about getting advice—it’s about building a community. Members are encouraged to give back by sharing their own expertise as advisors when they can. For every call you take, you’ll earn priority scheduling for the most experienced advisors which you can use for own advice seeking or gift to others.Trust and Accountability:
Advisors and advisees rate each other after every call, helping maintain a high signal to noise ratio on the list.Free:
This is free and there will always be a free offering. If this gets a lot of action, I might turn this into a freemium website down the road. For sure, pioneer members will get the best treatment and pricing.
Why This Matters
Mentorship, advice, and consulting are some of the most powerful tools for personal, professional, and business growth, yet they remain underutilized for so many. Platforms like LinkedIn are great for networking but don’t offer the depth of personalized guidance most of us need. On the other hand, services like executive coaching (even my own) can be prohibitively expensive, especially if you’re early in your career.
I believe PM’s helping other PM’s fills that gap. It’s affordable, accessible, and designed to help you get the advice you need, when you need it. And as someone who’s spent 20 years in product management, I know how much value there is in leveraging the collective wisdom of others. With the right advice, you can make better decisions, grow faster, and feel more confident in your career path.
How You Can Get Involved
This is just the beginning, and I’m inviting my Fireside PM audience to play a key role in shaping this community. I want to hear from you—whether you’re someone who’s looking for advice, excited to share your expertise as an advisor, or both.

Know someone who might benefit from this kind of community? Share the form with them! The more diverse perspectives we can gather early on, the stronger this platform will be.
What’s Next
In the coming weeks, I’ll be using the responses from the interest form to do some initial matches and test the concept with a small group. From there, I’ll refine the idea based on your feedback and continue to grow the community.
